Day 01
Welcome to Day 1 of our 21 Days of Prayer & Fasting. Check out the prayer guide for our first day together below! This is going to be an exciting adventure for our church family over the next few weeks. Most days will be just be the day's reading and prayer reflections. Today, we want to take a few moments to make sure we're all on the same page and ready for the journey ahead.
First, remember that the ask is that you spend a dedicated time of prayer DAILY from today (August 28th) through Sunday, September 17th. How long this is or exactly what it looks like is totally up to you. Take this time to communicate with and connect to the presence and person of Jesus!
Second, remember that our challenge is to decide on how we're each going to fast. Make sure to check with your medical professional if you have any concerns, but the idea is that you choose a time, place, and manner of choosing to deny yourself food in some way or another for a specific period of time. You are NOT being asked to fast for the full 21 days! Some possible options:
Choose to do a Partial Fast - not eating one or two meals on a specific day or abstaining from certain kinds of food.
Choose one or two days per week to fast from all food.
Choose to restrict your diet to only vegetables, fruit, water, and juice (minimal amount of carbohydrates) - sometimes called the "Daniel Fast"
The idea is that you take this time to acknowledge your hunger and use it to reflect on who Jesus is, what He's done, and how you can connect with Him in an ever deepening way.
Lastly, remember this is not about "success or failure" ... it is about striving toward that God who loves us and calls us. It is about working to acknowledge HIm in all our ways and to see Him high and lifted up in our lives.
