Day 07

What does it mean to hear God? In Christian circles, that is bandied around quite a bit, but I think we often over-complicate or over-mystify it. At a basic level, it’s listening to what God has to say to us, and we find that primarily in His Word, the Bible.

But it also means quieting ourselves down enough to “hear” Him through the words of Scripture as well as when we pray. Too often, our prayers are filled with words asking over and over for the things that we want or need, and we rarely allow enough silence for God’s voice to penetrate our hearts.

Take some time today as you pray to embrace that silence, listening for what God has to say to you!
