There’s probably someone we wish we found easier to love. We care about them (we really do!), but we’re tired of how things go between us or how they’ve acted in the past. We’ve tried to work through it, but we’re not sure what else to do. Being told to love them can feel like being asked to do something that’s just outside of reality for us.
In these moments, it’s worth asking how God meets us in the midst of it. He knows the whole story, including what’s been done to us and what we’ve done ourselves. We can be honest with Him about being hurt or angry or simply worn out. We may not know what needs to happen next, but we can trust that He cares about us and will help us find a way forward. In fact, he’s already shown us what it looks like to love the unloveable … and He continues to do it every day!

Message Series Description:
At the heart of the Christian life is the love God has revealed in the person and work of Jesus Christ. The Apostle John’s first letter reminds us that love is not some abstract idea but rather the lived reality of those who belong to God, having been redeemed and cherished by Him. His love calls us out of darkness into light, out of fear into confidence, and out of self-centeredness into intentional, sacrificial care for others. When we abide in His love, we not only find assurance of our own salvation by His unmerited favor, but we also become witnesses to and agents of His grace into the world around us. The words of John invite us to be shaped by God’s love so lavishly that it flows through us in every relationship and sphere of life.
