Day 11

Today marks the halfway point in our journey … way to go! You are pursuing God in a special, focused way that will do nothing but grow your connection to Jesus!

Do people know when you’re having a bad day? Is your frustration readily read in your face and your tone? Are you maybe known as a *gasp* grump? Do people pick up on your happiness and joy when they’re with you?

Now, we all know there are times that we are NOT happy, NOT chipper, NOT excited about our situations, and it is good and right to lament bad situations. However, many of us seem to feel a great liberty and duty even to present our unhappiness with the world or our situations or our mood in general.

And yet, Jesus calls us to reflect on, bask in, and radiate out His JOY. It is His joy that enables the Apostle Paul to declare in the book of Philippians, “I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” Contentment rooted in the joy of Jesus is the secret to truly being cheerful people!
