Day 10

What’s something that you simply crave? Something that the mere thought of gets you excited or the thought of not having fills your heart with sadness? Often, we might be tempted to respond with a more trite answer, like coffee or chocolate or a favorite tv show or indulgent food. And while those things might hold appeal to us, there is something deeper our longings point to.

If we stopped long enough to give it real consideration, how would we honestly respond? What are those things that the loss of would bring despair or the enjoyment of bring deep delight? As we pray and fast, it’s quite possible for us to realize that we might be craving the wrong things, that we may very well be substituting the lesser for the greater.

What would it look like for us to truly, deeply crave connection with our Creator, to yearn after Jesus with the kind of longing that aches when it’s not satisfied. Today, let’s focus on how we can use our natural hunger to point us to what our souls are really crafted to desire.
