Day 13
One of the hardest parts of the Bible for people to really wrap their heads around in today's world is the practice of sacrifice. How could the offer of animals, grains, wine, or other things do anything to "save" people? And the prospect of actually killing something to somehow absolve us of sin seems completely foreign.
The idea of sacrifice doesn't need to be over-mystified. One of the main reasons sacrifice took place was to show the dependence and trust of the one sacrificing on the provision of God in their lives. They could give up this valuable thing and release control of its use and ownership, trusting God to use it as He saw fit.
And that's what our sacrifice during our 21-Days of Prayer and Fasting is about, too - offering our valuable time and dedicating it to Jesus, sacrificing the pleasure of a well-filled belly as a way of directing our attention to Him.
You've made it far ... keep going!
